ALAN OSMOND'S
Alan loves to create new and exciting events that entertain people and has always loved the "bigger than life" style of productions that bring him another often quoted title of the "Wizard of oohs and ahhs". (Alan Ahhhhsmond!) His philosophy is that, "We are in a visual day and age and people want to see things that are exciting and attend events worthy of being remembered." As an entertainer of almost 4 decades, Alan's instincts of what the audience wants and how a show should be paced is based on real experience! As a television and live event producer, Alan is credited with originating the many visual effects used on the Donny & Marie Shows and other Network Specials. He learned from the best producers that the TV medium should be thought of as tele-VISION. People want to see something new and exciting! Seeing is believing!
Whether it was the regular balloon drops at the end of each D&M Show, celebrities like Tim Conway flying across the stage on a wire, Donny on a tight wire with an electric circus theme or hanging from the outside of a helicopter with fireworks on his feet, Osmond Brothers hanging upside down singing "Hang on Sloopy", electric sparks coming out of one's fingers while playing a synthesizer (via a tesla coil), the appearance of "burning down" the Osmond Studios with surround fireworks and flame throwers as The Osmond Brothers sang "Burn Baby Burn" , pies in the face, Donny in a pie, flash pots, confetti cannons, slime, watertank drops, trap doors, splitting pants, pants on fire, 4 heads in one body, inflatable clothes, etc., etc.. If you can visualize it, or if you saw it in an Osmond production . . . Alan was most likely behind it!
Alan absolutely loves fireworks and special effects that are grand in nature and size. "With all the video games and splashy visual effects that we are used to seeing on TV, videos and movies . . . fireworks gives audiences the SIZE and BANG that is consistent with the expected "visual rush" of entertainment in the outdoor arena. I love producing the unexpected and the extravaganza . . . spectacular!" And he has done many!
At a young age, Alan worked with Tommy Walker (an event producer for Walt Disney) who introduced him to various fireworks and live event companies. Tommy, Alan and his brother Merrill formed a company together to do live events and did several in California, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Arizona, as well as the Opening Innagural ceremonies for President Ronald Reagan and an Innagural Ball for President George Bush. Alan formed his own company, "Alan Osmond Productions, Inc." and produced many live events, stadium spectaculars and half-time shows, corporate events, trade shows, mall and building dedications and created and developed "STADIUM OF FIRE" . . . one of the top fireworks extravaganzas in the nation which is the finale to Americas Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah held annually to a consistently sold out audience (50-65,000 seats based upon production) at the BYU Stadium. He is celebrating his 25 Anniversary of this production this year. Some of the production themes over the years have been: "Echos of Freedom", "This is My Country", "Stadium of Fire", "Hope of America", "Light of Liberty", "Circus in the Sky", "Red Hot and Blue", etc. As an entertainer himself, he has a personal relationship with many stars and has promoted some of the biggest names in the business.
To kick off the opening of "Circus in the Sky", Alan set a Guinnes Book of Records record by lighting over a million firecrackers in 7 seconds. The sequence of three pictures below reflect what it looked like. (The big drum sign that says "Circus in the sky is approximately 24 ft high!) It was like an atomic explosion that mushroomed and extended over 2000 feet in the sky! It was so impressive that people made tee-shirts that said: "I survived the Stadium of Fire"!
Alan's dream is to continue promoting family valued events with "more than entertainment" utilizing casts of thousands and the latest technologies and packaging of safe, yet visual, effects. He has written the theme songs for many his events and the entertainers that were a part of the events all desire to return to another one of his productions. The beginnings of another of Alan's annual events is "Branson Blast" in Branson, Missouri where this year over 60 entertainers, 3,000 boats on the lake and a shoreline capacity of over 16,000 spectators on the beaches of Moonshine Beach watched one of the largest fireworks demonstrations in Missouri! Now that is fun for "families to do together!"
